The right skincare when traveling
All-round protection and care
Our skin is a sensitive organism that must constantly adapt to the climate, humidity and environment when traveling. To make sure that not only we, but also our skin, have a pleasant time, we should support it with the right skincare.
In doing so, it is important to take into account the different conditions on the way to your destination. In particular, the air conditioning and low humidity on board of an airplane, as well as the possible transition to a different climate zone after landing, can be a challenge for the skin.
Before departure
Before the flight, you should make sure that you drink enough liquid. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages. To allow the pores to breathe, it is best to avoid using makeup.
A few days before departure, we recommend a deep cleansing of the skin to remove dead skin cells and impurities. This can be done with our Exfoliating Facial Scrub for normal skin, our Gentle Clarifying Enzyme Peel for sensitive and impure or oily skin, or our Fruit Acid Peel for mature and dry skin. These peelings can stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process and help it to absorb moisture.
Extra care
To optimally prepare the skin before take-off, an intensive facial mask can work wonders. It should be rich in antioxidants to help the skin fight free radicals. This intensive treatment for dry and dehydrated facial skin supports the skin’s moisture depot and increases its resistance.
During the flight
The humidity in an airplane is usually only between 5 and 16%. However, for our skin to feel comfortable, it needs humidity between 40 and 60%. As a result of the dry air, our skin eventually releases more moisture through the skin barrier and begins to tighten. The protective hydro-lipid layer (acid barrier) is disturbed, and the skin surface becomes more sensitive and more susceptible to bacteria due to the loss of moisture.
For this reason, it is essential to ensure a sufficient supply of moisture to support the skin’s barrier function. Our Hyaluronic Blossom Facial Mist is ideal for this purpose: Simply spray gently over the face several times a day, as needed, with eyes closed. In addition to external treatment with the right skincare products, internal hydration is also essential: it is essential to increase water consumption when traveling.

Oily and impure skin
If your skin tends to produce more oil (sebum) when you travel, it is because it is trying to counteract the dry conditions of an airplane. We recommend using cleansers that have a balancing and hydrating effect to help restore the skin’s natural balance.

At the destination
Your skin will most likely experience a climatic change upon arrival. After a long flight, it is recommended that you thoroughly cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin. Use your usual skin type-specific cleansers and moisturizers.
The right care for hot and humid climate zones
For warmer climates, gel-based cleansers are suitable, as the skin produces more lipids in warm temperatures. These protect the skin from the sun and prevent moisture loss, but also make the skin look oilier.
